The Dragon's Egg

Added some texts.

Final Illustration

Painted the hell out of it! Before this image, I almost gave up and was going to start over with an easier style, but I smacked myself for thinking it and decided to keep going. I'm glad I did.

Thumbnails. Good to do thumbnails. I had no clue where I was going.

A young adult book cover design.
The brief was that it has to portray a girl between the age of 12-16 and a dragon's egg. The rest is up to me.
Something I woked on all day yesterday. It was pretty challenging but I discovered a few tricks while painting this.
I started off with a few thumbnails and decided to start my painting from silhouettes, which I was never usd to. But somehow I pulled it of alright I think.

This blog tend to make my posts look a bit desaturated. But whatever...

It's finally over!

What can I say, I have finally graduated from 2 years of working my ass off! I've learned a lot of new things, met some great friends and I must say, that this year is the best year ever!
So, the exhibition night went pretty well, can't really complain. I had some great feedbacks from art directors and random strangers coming up to me saying how much they enjoy my work. It was a great night! I feel like all those hard work I've put into creating my folio is worthwhile!
I'm sad that the course has ended and we had to say goodbye, but I'm so very excited to see how everyone will go with their journeys! I know I'll be doing my best to make you guys proud!
Now, it's time to make those calls, posting those work online, skecthing like a mad man, waking up early and staying up late! It's a scary but exciting time of my life!

I'm ready to take on the world...!

Feelings...

So the exhibition is set next week. Yet, I am still not that satisfied with a couple of pieces that's already in the folio. I make sure I study the teachers' faces when they went through it and see how they react, so one particular piece seemed like it wasn't good enough. So I made a new one last night and will print tomorrow. I'll post it when the exhibition is over.

Aside from that, I've been feeling pretty down and demotivated lately. Perhaps it's the hot weather! I think I'm also finally realising that I really need to get myself a decent enough studio and for that I need to get myself a decent enough full time job! That's a lot of pressure! I need to block every negativity that may be affecting me, because those are the things that would make me lose focus! I feel like I'm getting closer to achieveing what I want, I've been finding it hard to sleep at night, because I get too excited to paint or draw. I've been having dreams about succesful artists and people I look up to working hard! So, I tried to cut down my sleep even more, just so I feel like I'm keeping up with them.

Anyway, enough blaberring. So, this piece kinda represent how I feel at the moment.

Fight for your dreams!

That's the title for this piece which is also a piece that I made for the title page of my portfolio.

I want it to have a meaning of how I feel.

This is the fourth piece I made for my title page and I think that I am finally settled with this one. I'm picky.

I've spent drawing and painting up to the day that the folio is actually being sent to the printers. There is no point in rushing.

So, now that all of this 'portfolio' issue has been dealt with, I'll be starting on a project and maybe able to post here once I get the go ahead sign.

That doesn't mean I'm not available for more work though haha~!

Anyway, if you are in Sydney and if you are free, come down to Enmore TAFE on the 3rd of December 2009, say hello and check out some cool artworks at our end of year exhibition. Cheers!

My inspiration

A portrait that I did for my beautiful girlfriend for our anniversary.
She's the sweetest person I have ever met in my whole entire life.

I love her more and more each day.

Chris

A carricature of a very talented Australian artist and an all around good guy, Chris Wahl.
I am nowhere near as good as he is, but hope to be one day. This was done by dry brushing and combined with Chris' homemade photoshop brushes.

Not sure if I really capture your personality or likeness here. And I think your hair is longer now.

Sorry, Chris... :P

Insomnia

Well, I'm about finished with my end of year portfolio and have been pretty hectic with creating new artworks for it. I may actually be giving myself more deadlines, but I'm enjoying every minute of it, even though it meant I have very little sleep most of the time.

This piece was something I made, without 'thinking' too much about what I'm drawing. So anything that came to mind, I just draw it. Very relaxing.

Nibru

An internet sensation!
This chracter is quickly growing everyday! Artists from all over he world make their version of this dude over at conceptart.org. This is my take. Did this during class. It's good to finish your school work early.

Today People and Weirdos

A few character designs I did for a couple of days. I went through my upcoming portfolio contents and realised that I needed to draw 'today' people, considering I have too many fantasy and sci-fi like characters.
This was Chris Wahl inspired. I hope to be as awesome as he is one day.
